Systematic Survey Report of Dalbergia cochinchinensis and Dalbergia oliveri for Piloting Assessment on Sustainable Genetic Conservation in Choam Ksant district, Preah Vihear Province.
As there are no official statistics, differentiated by species, that are available for D. cochinchinensis and D. oliveri in Cambodia, nor are they very well-documented, this report provides an assessment of the natural population density of these two species in forest habitats. The average population density of D. cochinchinensis was 113.1± 64.5 plants/ha, and there were only 2.6 plants/ha with diameters ≥ 5 cm. In addition, the overall average population density of D. oliveri was 234.5 ± 191.5 plants/ha, yet there were only 0.8 plants/ha with diameters ≥ 5cm. The principal beneficiaries of the project will include (i) local communities, small- and mediumscale farmers, landowners, and private sector companies that participated in the project; and (ii) forest resource and land use management practitioners and planners who are involved in managing and conserving the two Dalbergia species.
